The new 14-shade eyeshadow palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills, is a dream come true. It’s a collaboration with black Beauty Youtuber, Jackie Aina, and it was created with brown skinned babes in mind. I loved EVERYTHING about this collab, so I picked up the palette the moment I could.
We’ll talk a little bit about this product drop, and I’ll show you the swatches on my skin. But first, you need to watch the promo video (it’s badass, and pays homage to boundary pushing black women (and Shego)) :
Jackie Aina X ABH – Made for Women with Darker Skin Tones
So getting back to business. While these colours will look stunning on anyone, they are geared towards black and brown skinned women, who are so often underrepresented. Jackie Aina even tweeted: “Finally a palette where EYE, a melanin girl, can use ALL the shades“. Tell me what black girl doesn’t relate to that?
How many of us own palettes where a chunk of the shades are completely untouched? Not because we aren’t interested in them, but because they just look awful on darker skin tones? Thankfully, Aina had that struggle in mind when she worked on this palette with Anastasia Beverly Hills.
I haven’t felt so passionate about a palette since the Master Palette by Mario X ABH collan… which I lost. That was the only other palette I owned where all the colours were well-used. (It seems like Anastasia Beverly Hills has a good track record for medium/deep/dark complexions).
And not only has Aina explicitly tweeted that these shades are for US, it also comes out in the names. With colour names like EDGES, SHOOKINGTON, and LITUATION, we know who her target audience is.
The Palette:
Everything about it is stunning, from the iridescent package itself, to the logo (which her man designed). And the colours are beautiful. There is a mix of popping shades, luxurious shimmers, and the right amount of neutral solids to help blend it all together.
Jackie Aina Palette Swatched on Brown Skin:
Now, for the swatches. I’d like to make it clear, that I am by no means a swatching expert, but I wanted to give you guys an idea of what it looked on my skin tone (a sort of medium/brown).

In short, this palette is gorgeous, and I can’t wait to really experiment with it. Stay tuned on Instagram, where I’ll be playing around with different looks!
So will you be running out to get your hands on the newest Anastasia Beverly Hills Palette? Do you have some videos or examples of you swatching the Jackie Aina collab on a darker complexion? Drop it in the comments!

I saw this at Ulta but didn’t get a chance to check it out. The colors look super vivid! Jackie been doing the damn thing!
They are SO vivid. I need to get better at application, but there’s no better palette to play with!
I feel like such a failure because J just started following Jackie a couple of weeks ago. I had my reasons lol. But she’s so dope and this palette is def on my to buy list!
Add it Add it! Although I’m over here wondering what your reasons are/were .. :D
The colors have plenty of pigment which is important for those with melanated skin tones. Jackie Aina is to be commended.
Totally! From the interviews I’ve read, Jackie Aina put her heart and soul into this palette, and wanted to make sure it was done right! She didn’t settle!
